The process of creating a new medication begins with addressing a health issue lacking proper treatment, known as an unmet medical need. Drug discovery research commences by pinpointing the target - whether it's a nucleic acid, protein, or signaling pathway that could potentially be stimulated or blocked to produce a therapeutic outcome. Validating this target builds assurance that the specific molecule plays a role in or causes the disease process. Potential treatments can subsequently be discovered by testing for small molecules or biologics that interact effectively with the identified target. Our work concentrates on discovering and confirming target molecules, which subsequently guide the creation of small molecule tests and novel biologic treatments for clinical application.
