The plant science research conducted within Leeds' Faculty of Biological Sciences explores both fundamental botanical processes and solutions for sustaining global food production through environmentally conscious farming practices. This work is concentrated in the Centre for Plant Sciences, where 14 faculty members from the Schools of Biology and Molecular and Cellular Biology collaborate. Investigative projects span diverse areas, including cellular processes and genetic regulation in model organisms (Arabidopsis, Physcomitrella), plant-microbe ecological relationships, root-soil dynamics, and innovative approaches for mitigating environmental stresses and pest damage in various agricultural crops.
