The integrative physiology team aims to deepen knowledge of fundamental physiological and metabolic processes that influence human performance in both healthy and diseased states. Our research focuses on enhancing athletic performance for both elite and amateur competitors by developing innovative assessment methods and creating tailored training and nutrition plans. We also study how physiological and metabolic functions are disrupted by factors like aging, sedentary lifestyles, space conditions, excessive calorie intake, and oxygen deprivation, exploring their potential links to disease development. A major emphasis is placed on understanding how physical activity and diet can promote healthy aging.
