Pursuing a PhD in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science involves conducting in-depth, original research that establishes you as an authority in your chosen field while developing advanced research capabilities. The Philosophy department at Leeds investigates core inquiries about existence, human understanding, and interpersonal relationships. Our scholarly work covers diverse areas including metaphysics, theory of knowledge, ethics, political philosophy, along with specialized studies in logic, language, cognition, behavior, scientific inquiry, and theological thought. With approximately 25 faculty members complemented by postdoctoral fellows and graduate researchers, we foster a dynamic, cooperative academic environment.
