Pursuing a PhD enables you to deeply investigate a subject you're passionate about while making a significant impact in your field. You'll undertake a substantial independent research project on a topic you select, culminating in a thesis of approximately 100,000 words based on your discoveries. You'll be supported throughout by either a dedicated supervisor or two co-supervisors who are experts in your research area. Our institution boasts a distinguished legacy in philosophical history research, with faculty members continually examining how this foundation enhances our applied ethics studies. Past research has covered thinkers like Immanuel Kant, American Pragmatism, and Ancient Philosophy, and we partner with the School of Philosophy, Religion and the History of Science to assist PhD candidates in our specialty areas.
