Pursuing a research degree in the Faculty of Biological Sciences allows you to acquire and refine skills as an autonomous researcher in your selected discipline. Working under the guidance of your primary supervisor and additional co-supervisors, you'll have the opportunity to conduct innovative research on specific biological challenges while joining a vibrant research community that employs interdisciplinary methods to address contemporary scientific inquiries. During your PhD journey, you'll not only deepen your expertise in your chosen field but also enhance your capabilities through structured training programs, seminar participation, and conference engagements.
Investigating gene expression regulation, transcriptional processes, and epigenetic modifications in both healthy and pathological conditions. Our cellular biology studies focus on uncovering the fundamental mechanisms governing normal cellular operations and their dysregulation in diseased cells and organisms. Specifically, we explore the architecture and functionality of cellular elements like membranes, organelles, and cytoskeletal structures, along with critical processes such as protein folding, degradation pathways, stress responses, gene control mechanisms, and protein trafficking in various health contexts. These investigations utilize diverse model systems ranging from cultured mammalian cells to plants, nematodes, and Drosophila.
