The Appetite Regulation and Energy Metabolism (ACEB) research team operates within our Human Appetite Research Unit (HARU). Their work spans multiple domains such as: Gut hormones and digestive physiology, Dietary preferences and pleasure responses, Exercise and inactive lifestyles, Body weight regulation, Obesity and societal bias, and Hunger/fullness signals. While many adults attempt weight reduction, long-term success remains elusive. Obesity presents a major socioeconomic and medical burden across Europe. Though numerous weight loss methods and commercial programs exist, most individuals eventually regain the weight. Presently, Europe lacks comprehensive approaches for sustained weight management. Digital platforms provide promising methods for educating and assisting with these strategies, some traditionally requiring intensive in-person sessions. Technology-based solutions incorporate connected wireless monitoring devices, smart scales and movement trackers, web-based platforms and mobile applications, digital content and online support networks. Offering diverse technological options increases user adoption, allowing individuals to select their preferred tools.
