At Leeds University, you have the opportunity to combine film studies with one of 10 different languages. The Modern Languages and Film Studies program offers a distinctive perspective on international cinema while immersing you in language learning and cultural understanding. You'll discover the diversity of global filmmaking traditions, examining cinematic art across various regions and eras beyond just mainstream Hollywood productions. Additionally, you'll achieve professional-level proficiency in your selected language.

By taking both required and elective courses, you'll develop comprehensive expertise in film theory, critical analysis, and cross-cultural perspectives while enhancing your language abilities in speaking and writing. You can also select modules that delve into the cultural heritage, historical background, and political landscape of countries where your chosen language is spoken.

International Baccalaureate
34 points overall with 16 at Higher Level. Where a post-A level language route is taken, 5 points at Higher Level in the relevant language is required. Where Chinese or Japanese is taken, a GCSE in any modern language is required. Where any other beginner language route is taken, previous experience in language is not required.

IELTS 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.5 in any component.
