This program provides comprehensive knowledge across two fields, combining international relations with the study of East Asia's culture, history, politics, and economy. The region includes diverse nations like Japan, China, Thailand, and Indonesia, representing over half the global population. It's a vibrant area with significant cultural, political, and economic influence that shapes our global perspective. Students can select from various elective courses covering subjects such as East Asian religious traditions, contemporary Thai history, and Japanese film studies.
Concurrently, the international relations component examines state interactions and the functions of global institutions like the UN in maintaining peace and security. You'll analyze the evolution of international political systems and their current transformations. The global competencies and perspectives you acquire will equip you for international career opportunities. Additionally, the program offers an optional year abroad or work placement between your second and third years of study.
