Our academic institute specializes in teaching and research across Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy disciplines. Located in Preston within the University of Central Lancashire, the institute comprises approximately 30 faculty members engaged in teaching and research.

Founded in 1927 as the Jeremiah Horrocks Observatory (JHO) at Moor Park, it evolved into the Centre for Astrophysics in 1993. In 2004, it was rebranded as the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute (JHI) for Astrophysics and Super-Computing.

A recognised UK first degree, second class honours or above, or a UK Master's degree or equivalent qualification. PhD studentships normally require at least an upper second class honours first degree.

IELTS - 6.5 (with no component score lower than 6.0), TOEFL IBT - 86 with minimum grades of Reading - 15, Listening - 15, Speaking - 18, Writing - 22, Pearson Test of English-Academic - 65 and with minimum of 59 in each component
