The School of Engineering provides research-focused degree programs across diverse disciplines within a vibrant academic setting.
Within the School, the Mechanical Engineering Group offers both a Master by Research (MRes) and a PhD program in Mechanical Engineering. The full-time MRes is a one-year program culminating in a research thesis, while the PhD program spans three years.
Pursuing an MRes or PhD in the Mechanical Engineering Group enables students to engage in innovative projects across advanced mechanical engineering domains. Key research areas encompass:
computer-aided design (CAD),
material and structural failure analysis,
computational fluid dynamics (CFD),
automation and production systems,
risk assessment and reliability engineering,
industrial equipment maintenance,
robotics and autonomous technologies,
and digital mechanics.
