The School of Biosciences focuses its research on investigating cellular systems and biological processes, with a strong emphasis on molecular approaches. Our cutting-edge research initiatives work in harmony with each other while enhancing our educational programs.
Specializing in areas like biochemistry, microbiology, and biomedical science enables us to leverage advanced technologies and pioneer innovations across genetics, molecular biology, protein studies, biophysics, and computational biology. Our investigations span diverse molecular phenomena, from fundamental cellular activities like division and gene expression to applied areas including diagnostic tools, therapeutic development, and sustainable energy solutions.
Our research programs feature both laboratory-based and computational projects. PhD candidates engage in intensive 3-4 year full-time studies or extended 5-6 year part-time research. From the outset, students concentrate on a specific research initiative while selectively participating in complementary skills development modules. Each researcher benefits from dedicated supervision, including primary advisors and independent progression mentors who provide objective guidance.
