Hull's Drama department is renowned for its globally recognized, top-tier research. We provide MA by Thesis and PhD research supervision across diverse topics, aligning with both faculty expertise and our core research clusters: Performance, Technology and Aesthetics; Performance Translation and Dramaturgy; and Engagement and Participation Studies.

Your research can follow conventional written thesis formats or incorporate experimental practice supported by analytical writing and documentation. Whichever path you choose, you'll advance both personal expertise and academic knowledge through customized original research, mentored by specialists. Our facilities include three fully-equipped performance studios with backstage areas, dressing rooms, technical control spaces, a design workshop, and storage for costumes/props. Students additionally enjoy guest lectures, performance excursions, and professional touring productions across theatre, dance, and music.
