The Doctor of Philosophy degree is granted to individuals who have thoroughly examined and assessed an authorized subject, thereby producing a unique and autonomous addition to existing knowledge. Their work must feature a substantial research, creative, or analytical element that is, either wholly or partially, suitable for publication. Candidates are also required to exhibit proficiency in research methodologies pertinent to their chosen discipline. Typically, the resulting dissertation ranges from 40,000 to 80,000 words, varying by academic field and research focus. Our expertise encompasses diverse areas within dance, music, and performing arts. We integrate cross-disciplinary practice with contemporary theoretical frameworks in our research approach. With a faculty of distinguished scholars and professionals, the Bath School of Music and Performing Arts provides expert supervision for a broad spectrum of research inquiries in these fields.
