A Master of Science (MSc) by Research program enables students to complete a one-year (full-time) academic investigation with minimal structured coursework. This condensed format provides an opportunity to delve into a specialized subject area without committing to the extended timeline of a PhD.
Our research-based degrees offer flexible study options including full-time, part-time, and select distance learning programs.
Unlike traditional taught Master's programs, research Master's candidates focus on a defined project, enjoying more autonomy in their academic work.
Students collaborate with their supervisor during the initial study period to establish an approved research plan. Throughout the investigation, participants enhance their research capabilities through specialized training sessions and academic events.
Each candidate receives guidance from a primary supervisor, typically supported by a team of up to three academic advisors who provide project assistance.
The program culminates with the submission of a concise thesis approximately 25,000 words in length, which undergoes formal evaluation.
Graduates who find the research experience rewarding may choose to pursue advanced doctoral studies (PhD) upon successful degree completion.
