Our globally-oriented, cross-disciplinary research initiatives are built upon rigorous, adaptable graduate programs designed to challenge students.
Postgraduate researchers can choose from diverse independent study paths, ranging from one-year taught courses to three-year PhD programs. By enrolling, you'll become part of a dynamic postgraduate network. We embrace students from various backgrounds exploring specialized topics through arts, humanities, and social science methodologies, including practice-based research when applicable. The College of Arts Graduate School fosters an interdisciplinary, collaborative atmosphere for all research students, providing numerous services, courses, and skill-building opportunities. Within an intellectually rich setting, the College hosts a diverse community of students pursuing both taught master's and research degrees. Every department within the college produces groundbreaking, influential research that shapes academic discourse.
The Doctor of Philosophy degree recognizes students whose dissertations demonstrate original contributions to their field, typically including publishable material. We equally support practice-led PhDs where the written component may be shorter but includes significant practical work. The length of the written thesis will be determined in consultation with your advisor, generally not falling below 30,000 words.
