The Media and Broadcast doctoral program provides avenues for both analytical and innovative practice-based research. Students pursuing this degree can specialize in conventional historical, theoretical, and critical studies culminating in a comprehensive dissertation, or opt for practice-oriented investigation. This program facilitates cross-disciplinary exploration, bridging connections across various fields within and outside the School of Arts, English, and Languages. The Creative Practice PhD involves producing supervised creative work accompanied by a written analysis that contextualizes the output within media and broadcast culture while applying relevant critical frameworks. Specialized supervision is available in documentary filmmaking and digital media.
Students enrolled in the Critical Practice PhD will conduct sophisticated, groundbreaking research on their selected topic. Supervision strengths include broadcast media history and fantasy genres.
The Media and Broadcast PhD allows you to concentrate on a personally meaningful research subject through either analytical or creative methodologies.
