This Master's program concentrates on the period from the late 15th to 18th centuries, offering chances to investigate social, political, religious, and cultural historical topics across broad geographical and temporal spans at a university with rich library, museum, and archival holdings for this era. Specialists in Early Modern Scotland, England, Europe, Africa, and the Americas contribute to our curriculum. You'll enroll in a core Research, Resources, and Skills course alongside fellow History students, plus five elective courses.
Glasgow serves as an exceptional center for Early Modern History studies. The university library houses remarkable printed and manuscript collections spanning medieval to contemporary periods. You can also utilize the Baillie Collection of printed medieval and modern sources covering Scottish, Irish, and English history. The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery on campus offers access to primary materials in areas like fine art, numismatics, and ethnography.
