Nutrition research at Glasgow University explores diverse fields such as gastrointestinal health, food science, metabolic processes, and the relationship between diet and chronic illnesses at MSc, MD, and PhD levels.
The gastrointestinal and metabolic studies division conducts investigations across all life stages, from infancy to adulthood. Studies focus on food digestion and nutrient absorption, interactions with intestinal microbiota, metabolic processing of both nutrients and non-nutrient food elements, and their effects on blood lipids and insulin sensitivity in healthy individuals as well as pediatric and adult patients.
The chronic disease and nutrition research team has developed innovative methodologies in a comprehensive translational research program. Many projects involve collaborative supervision across multiple research institutes. Our Graduate School within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences offers a dynamic, nurturing environment for all postgraduate scholars. We are committed to delivering outstanding support through specialized academic advisors, skilled supervisors, and personalized student welfare services.
