Ancestral Studies is a groundbreaking interdisciplinary discipline that examines identity through social, cultural, and biological lenses. It investigates fundamental questions about human existence by analyzing how previous generations understood concepts of self and community through their interactions with environments, languages, written works, and artistic expressions. The program focuses on four key areas: Ancestral voices, Ancestral bodies, Ancestral locations, and Ancestral connections. Our MRes program combines structured coursework with research components, requiring students to complete 60-90 credits of instruction alongside original scholarly work that advances understanding in the field.
