Founded in 2009, this Military History program allows students to select (with advisory support) their preferred research subject and explore it through personalized expert guidance. Beyond conducting specialized research, participants regularly gather to engage with renowned Military History scholars through lectures, dinners, and debates - featuring distinguished guests like Sir Antony Beevor, Sir Hew Strachan, Simon Heffer, Richard Overy, James Holland, and Saul David. These gatherings take place at the sophisticated Caledonian Club near Belgrave Square in London SW1.
The Financial Times praised the program, highlighting how professionals with intellectual curiosity are enrolling to discuss security, diplomacy, and military affairs over dinner sessions with eminent historians and senior military figures.
Professor Gary Sheffield, a preeminent British WWI historian and President of the Western Front Association, leads the program. His extensive publications include edited diaries of Field Marshal Haig, biographies of Haig and Wellington, and analyses of officer leadership in WWI trench warfare.
