Learning Italian provides access to the language and rich cultural heritage of a prominent EU nation that has significantly influenced Europe's political and artistic landscape. Glasgow boasts a well-established tradition in Italian studies education, complemented by outstanding subject-specific library collections. Instruction occurs in intimate class settings, primarily with native Italian speakers, allowing students to achieve advanced proficiency in both written and spoken Italian. Your first-year curriculum is determined by prior Italian language experience. Students with an SQA Higher or A-level in Italian (grades A or B) will enroll in intermediate language and culture courses.
Graduates with language degrees pursue diverse career paths including: media, arts administration, education/teaching, civil service fast track programs, finance, business leadership, corporate communications, and
international diplomacy.

Advanced entry
Applicants who achieve exceptional grades in their Advanced Highers, A-levels or International Baccalaureate may be considered for advanced entry, meaning that an Honours degree can be completed in three years instead of the normal four years, or four years for five-year integrated Masters programmes.
