We aim to comprehend the central nervous system across various functional scales, from cellular processes to cognitive functions and social behaviors. Our methodologies span molecular, cellular, and experimental systems, along with brain imaging of human cognition and behavior, plus investigations at the societal level.
Understanding both healthy central nervous system operations and its alterations due to disease or injury remains one of biology and medicine's greatest challenges this century. Recent years have seen tremendous growth in brain research, evidenced by initiatives like the Human Brain Project and Brain Initiative. Simultaneously, the significant impact of neurological and psychiatric conditions, coupled with limited treatment options, demands innovative solutions.
Our researchers and students benefit from top-tier imaging technology and advanced computing resources. These create powerful connections across INP's various centers, featuring modern human cognitive imaging platforms, high-resolution animal scanners, specialized microscopy suites, and pioneering tools for analyzing dynamic social interactions.
