Exeter's Film Studies program boasts a diverse and dynamic research environment. Our faculty members are all engaged in active research, and postgraduate students join this thriving academic community. The Centre for Research into Film Studies serves as a hub where staff and students present their work and welcome guest speakers. The department frequently hosts conferences organized by both faculty and students. Beyond comprehensive research training, mentoring, and supervision, many PhD candidates gain teaching experience and can earn a higher education teaching qualification. Students regularly interact with film professionals to refine their ideas and projects. Our honorary film professors, Don Boyd and Nic Roeg, visit each term to conduct workshops and tutorials.
We prioritize providing exceptional research supervision to help you reach your full potential and launch a successful career. Postgraduates can utilize the extensive resources of our Career Zone, while research students benefit from our specialized Postgraduate Researchers' Programme.
