As a research student at Essex, you'll join our vibrant, well-connected research community. The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences provides an outstanding environment renowned for both research excellence and teaching quality.
Our cutting-edge facilities feature diverse equipment including ergometers, treadmills, portable gas analyzers, force plates, isokinetic dynamometers, a Vicon motion capture system, electronic timing devices, comprehensive blood analysis tools (with pulse oximeters and co-oximeters), and multiple EMG systems. Students can also explore non-invasive brain function assessment through our school's resources and partnerships with the cognitive neuroscience lab in Psychology. Available techniques encompass EEG, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
