The Centre for Inflammation Research (CIR) is dedicated to advancing the understanding, detection, and management of inflammatory conditions by fostering collaborative investigations into how inflammatory processes begin, are controlled, and conclude, while offering exceptional research training opportunities in this discipline.
Researchers at CIR work to identify and influence critical regulatory mechanisms in inflammation. Our primary areas of focus include:
preventing the onset of inflammation by intercepting immune-specific triggers and adjusting cellular and tissue reactions to harmful stimuli
developing innovative methods to enhance positive regulation of ongoing inflammatory processes to minimize tissue damage
facilitating effective resolution of inflammation and recovery of affected tissue structure and function
While we specialize in pulmonary and renal inflammatory disorders, our findings readily extend to inflammatory conditions affecting the liver, intestines, musculoskeletal system, and skin. Additionally, CIR is expanding its investigations into the connections between inflammatory processes and cancer development.
