The PhD program is integrated within the Ageing & DementiaBangor/DSDC, which specializes in resilience and the critical assessment and enhancement of health and social care for older adults and those with dementia. The research center's objective is to advance studies that explore dementia and aging within family and social networks, considering the intricate interplay of social, psychological, and cultural factors. This encompasses investigations in diverse environments such as communities, hospitals, and residential care facilities.
Ageing & DementiaBangor/DSDC also gains from its affiliation with the Bangor Institute of Health and Medical Research (BIHMR), offering students access to unique multidisciplinary resources. The center hosts an active community of postgraduate researchers investigating various topics related to aging and dementia, from fostering empathetic dementia care in clinical settings to optimizing transitions from hospitals to long-term care facilities.
