Pursuing a doctorate allows you to create novel, impactful research contributions in German Studies. The University of Edinburgh was among the first institutions to teach German as a European language. Our department has evolved into one of the largest Modern Languages programs at the University and a major research hub. A UK 2:1 honours degree and a masters degree, or their international equivalents, in a related subject.

IELTS Academic: total 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component.
TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 100 with at least 23 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.
