The Centre for Inflammation Research (CIR) is dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and management of inflammatory disorders by fostering cross-disciplinary research into how inflammatory processes begin, are controlled, and resolve. The center provides an exceptional training environment for inflammation research.
CIR researchers work to identify and influence critical regulatory mechanisms in inflammation. Our primary areas of focus include:
preventing inflammation onset by intercepting immune triggers and adjusting cellular and tissue reactions to harmful stimuli
developing innovative methods to better regulate ongoing inflammatory processes to minimize tissue damage
facilitating effective inflammation resolution while restoring affected tissues to their normal structure and function
While we specialize in lung and kidney inflammatory conditions, our findings readily apply to inflammatory processes affecting the liver, intestines, joints/bones, and skin. The CIR is also expanding its investigations into the connections between inflammation and cancer development.
