Hosted by the School of Divinity, this program leverages the expertise of one of the nation's premier institutions for religious and theological scholarship. It provides comprehensive exploration of how various literary forms intersect with religious traditions, historical contexts, philosophical thought, and practical applications.
Students will gain the tools to participate in this expanding academic discipline from multiple perspectives, examining the dynamic interplay between literature and religion through theological, textual, historical, and sociocultural lenses.
The core curriculum addresses both foundational theories and contemporary debates in these interconnected fields. Elective options (subject to annual availability) may include studies in Scottish Literature, Faith and Creativity, Literary Depictions of Science and Religion, Islamic Literary Traditions, Conflict Resolution, Theological Aesthetics, and Buddhist Sacred Texts.
