Our Literature and Cultures faculty comprises internationally renowned scholars specializing in American, British, and European literary traditions. The British literature specialists concentrate on modern poetry, contemporary fiction, and Shakespearean performance, while our Creative Writing program benefits from faculty who have published novels, poetry collections, and produced theatrical works.
The American studies scholars explore diverse fields including Black Atlantic culture, African American visual arts, Civil War cultural impacts, 1970s cultural movements, protest music, and transatlantic theater connections. Their work examines themes of slavery memorialization, humor studies, and performance arts.
European literary research encompasses Albert Camus studies, Frederico García Lorca's works, and Holocaust narratives. Our British literature experts investigate modern poetic forms, current fiction trends, and Shakespeare in performance contexts.
Faculty members have earned prestigious research fellowships from organizations like the AHRC, British Academy, BMI Foundation, and European Union. They regularly serve as peer reviewers for major funding agencies, academic presses, and leading journals across Europe and North America.
