Our psychology curriculum places significant focus on cultivating research methodology and statistical analysis competencies to complement our research-oriented instruction.
Year 1 - Through lectures and small-group sessions, you'll receive comprehensive foundational knowledge in psychology, including: Cognitive neuroscience, Child development psychology, Memory and perception studies, Personality psychology, Language and cognition, Group behavior psychology. You'll also learn fundamental research techniques and statistical concepts while gaining hands-on experience with psychological laboratory work. Additionally, you'll study language systems, dialects, evolution, and historical development in Linguistics and English Language 1. Year 2 - You'll advance your study of key psychological disciplines while adding clinical psychology. You'll enhance academic and professional abilities like research documentation, academic writing, and ethical considerations. A year-long, rigorous research methods and statistics program prepares you for Year 3. Linguistic Theory and English Structure provides in-depth knowledge of contemporary English grammar. We highly recommend selecting either Cross-Linguistic Diversity or Phonetic Analysis with Empirical Methods as additional linguistics coursework. Year 3 - You'll select specialized psychology courses that integrate core domains necessary for BPS accreditation. To support your research projects, you'll undertake advanced methodology and statistics training, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Linguistics options may include: Language processing studies, Language origins and development, Word formation analysis, Contextual meaning interpretation, Among other electives. Year 4 - You'll complete specialized psychology electives that synthesize fundamental psychological disciplines (biological, developmental, cognitive, social, and personality psychology).
