Our program covers social, cultural, and political history spanning from early modern times to the present day, with special focus on Britain, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and India.
We prioritize hands-on historical practice. From your first year, you'll work directly with primary sources, examining diverse historical materials such as documents, oral accounts, maps, visual media, films, artworks, and musical pieces.
You'll explore how source materials and media portrayals influence our interpretations of history. The curriculum encourages critical analysis of major historical debates - their evolution and impact on our worldview. Additionally, you'll examine historians' methodologies in constructing narratives and assess their contemporary role in public discourse, media, and cultural preservation.
