Enhance your Spanish language abilities while delving into the rich history of the Highlands and Islands, early Scottish governance, examining authentic 17th-century manuscripts, and evaluating Scotland's role in the transatlantic slave system. Additionally, investigate the evolution of Scottish and British national identities from the 1707 Union to contemporary times.

Our program focuses on active historical engagement. From your first year, you'll work directly with primary materials, examining diverse historical artifacts including documents, oral accounts, cartographic resources, visual media, cinema, artworks, and musical compositions.

After establishing foundational knowledge, you'll concentrate on specialized studies during Levels 3 and 4, having previously explored Scottish history in conjunction with British, Irish, American, European, and worldwide developments from early modernity to the current era.

You'll engage thoughtfully with major historical discussions, tracing their progression and influence on global perspectives. The program also examines historical methodology and assesses historians' contemporary roles in public discourse, media, and cultural preservation.
