Our program covers social, cultural, and political history spanning from the early modern era to contemporary times, with a focus on regions including the British Isles, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and India. We prioritize hands-on historical practice - students engage with primary sources from their first year, examining diverse materials like documents, oral accounts, maps, visual media, films, artworks, and musical pieces.
You'll explore how source materials and media portrayals influence historical interpretations. The curriculum encourages critical analysis of major historical debates, their evolution, and their impact on our worldview. Additionally, you'll examine historians' methodologies and assess their contemporary role in public discourse, media, and cultural preservation.
