Our highly regarded PGCE Secondary with QTS program guides you through your transformation from student to Early Career Teacher (ECT). Since this PGCE course includes Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), you can apply for teaching positions while completing your studies. Building upon the foundation of our PGCE Secondary curriculum, this Religious Education specialization equips you with the necessary skills to teach in secondary schools, designing and leading compelling RE classes. This distinctive focus enables you to foster an appreciation for global religions in your students.
Your learning will combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, all within the National Curriculum Framework. You'll examine core principles and topics of the PGCE syllabus, gaining the confidence to create and deliver dynamic lessons for students aged 11-16.
More than 50% of the program involves hands-on classroom experience through assessed placements, complemented by school-based enrichment activities alongside university study. You'll complete two placements in diverse educational settings, accumulating valuable experience to propel your professional growth.
You are welcome to apply if you have achieved a 2:2 or above in a religious education related degree. Plus, GCSE English Language or Literature, and GCSE Maths at grade C/4.
A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) background clearance check and Occupational Health check prior to starting the course.
A satisfactory academic (University) reference, or, a satisfactory professional reference if it is more than 3 years since academic study.
