Building upon the foundation of our respected PGCE General Primary program, this Early Years specialization equips you with specialized skills for teaching in Key Stage 1 environments, including both schools and nursery settings. This distinctive program track enables you to guide young learners during their crucial first steps in education.
Your learning will combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, all within the National Curriculum structure. You'll examine fundamental principles and core topics of Primary General education, developing the ability to create and implement dynamic lessons for children aged 3-7.
More than 50% of the program involves hands-on work with children through evaluated placements, complemented by school-based enrichment activities alongside your university coursework. You'll complete three placements in diverse educational settings, accumulating valuable experience to propel your professional growth.
First degree, or equivalent with a minimum of 2:2.
Three GCSEs at minimum grade C/4 or above to include English Language or Literature, Mathematics and Science (including biology, chemistry or physics).
A satisfactory academic (university) reference AND a satisfactory professional reference if more than three years since academic study.
All candidates must demonstrate professional suitability through interview and must obtain medical and enhanced DBS clearance according to established university procedures.
