Building upon the foundation of our renowned PGCE General Primary program, this Environmental and Experiential Learning specialization enables you to refine your teaching approach through place-based education in primary schools. This distinctive program offers the chance to cultivate a lasting appreciation for local environments, investigate ecological challenges, and create engaging, impactful educational experiences rooted in nature.
Your learning will combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, all while working within the National Curriculum structure. You'll examine essential teaching methodologies and principles, from understanding child development to classroom management, lesson preparation, and differentiated instruction. Additionally, you'll investigate strategies for addressing educational inequality and the vital role educators play in fostering ambition.
More than 50% of the program involves hands-on teaching practice with children, complementing your university studies with school-based learning opportunities. You'll complete three placements in diverse educational settings, accumulating valuable experience to propel your professional growth.
