Pursuing an oncology research degree at the UCL Cancer Institute means entering a stimulating academic community that fosters research expertise, deepens subject understanding, and enhances analytical capabilities. With world-class resources, expert guidance, and comprehensive training programs, we equip students for professional paths in academic research, pharmaceutical development, biotechnology, medical sciences, and clinical practice. As one of five specialized research divisions in the Cancer Institute, our oncology department focuses on diverse fields including therapeutic antibodies, anticancer drug discovery, head and neck malignancies, therapy resistance mechanisms, urologic cancer studies, metastatic processes, glioblastoma investigations, and cancer immunogenomics.
Working closely with academic advisors, you'll formulate original research questions and conduct innovative laboratory experiments, computational analyses, or clinical investigations as part of an active research group. Your progress will be guided by a dedicated supervision team featuring a primary advisor, supported by a thesis committee consisting of a co-supervisor and several additional academic mentors.
