This Master's program seeks to cultivate a new generation of professional audio designers who combine scientific knowledge with creative expertise. The growing sound industry currently faces a shortage of professionals with this interdisciplinary skillset. Throughout the program, you'll enhance your abilities while interacting with industry leaders, culminating in a capstone project guided by experienced practitioners. This hands-on MA produces skilled professionals who comprehend human auditory perception and can utilize this understanding, along with advanced spatial audio techniques, to craft immersive sound experiences for various audiences and settings. The curriculum examines numerous sound-related topics, encompassing physical acoustics and psychoacoustics, sound's developmental significance (both individually and culturally), narrative audio techniques (analyzing different media formats), environmental sound composition and cultural sound studies, aesthetic theories from stereo to emerging formats, both virtual and physical acoustic spaces, inclusive audio design, sound for visual media, experimental audio applications, and architectural acoustics (exploring venue-specific considerations and wellness impacts).
