This innovative Youth Studies program focuses on contemporary challenges affecting individuals aged 15-24. Building on the IOE's global leadership in education and social research, this pioneering degree seeks to redefine educational approaches regarding youth and the barriers or opportunities they encounter in achieving sustainable futures. The curriculum explores young people's interactions with themselves, peers, society, the environment, and digital technologies while critically analyzing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and other crucial sustainability discussions from both theoretical and applied perspectives. This three-year BA (Honours) combines academic rigor with practical application, employing a relational framework that examines youth connections with self, community, society, the natural world, and technological systems. This methodology enables deep exploration of youth challenges and proves particularly valuable for sustainability education, identifying which elements promote or obstruct sustainable futures for young generations. Learners will additionally gain from the research and knowledge of the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education, located within their own IOE department.
