Our combined Italian and Russian program provides exceptional opportunities to cultivate comprehensive, comparative, and cross-cultural perspectives in the humanities. Students can select from an extensive array of courses covering literature, linguistic studies, history, sociology, philosophy, visual arts, cinema, and other cultural aspects tied to their chosen language(s). During the first, second, and final years, participants will enroll in language courses for their selected tongues alongside related cultural studies. The curriculum also includes interdisciplinary offerings from the School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS) and SSEES, examining literature, film, language studies, and history through multiple lenses.
The third year involves international study, divided between two nations where the target languages are spoken. All students attain equivalent language proficiency, whether beginning a new language or building upon prior knowledge.
