These programs allow you to explore English alongside a secondary language. You'll participate in hands-on language instruction for your additional language while gaining insights into its cultural and societal context.
The English component offers a contemporary approach to literature studies, examining drama, fiction, and poetry from the 1600s to today, blending classic and modern works. Both English Literature/Language students and those with humanities backgrounds excel in these courses, which emphasize literary analysis.
We're recognized for outstanding instruction, adaptable programs, exceptional student satisfaction, and a vibrant research community. Modern language skills provide a significant advantage in today's global employment landscape, with growing demand for multilingual professionals in diverse workplaces.
Available secondary languages: French, Spanish, Modern Standard Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, German, Italian, and Japanese. See the 'Course in depth' section for details on language options and proficiency levels. A Foundation Year option is offered for this program.
