This joint degree in Finnish and Portuguese provides exceptional opportunities to cultivate comprehensive, comparative, and cross-cultural perspectives in humanities studies. Students can select from an extensive array of modules spanning literature, linguistic studies, history, sociology, philosophy, visual arts, cinema, and other cultural aspects tied to their chosen language(s). During the first, second, and final years, participants will engage with language courses in their selected tongues alongside related cultural studies. The program also allows enrollment in interdisciplinary modules from SELCS and SSEES, covering literary works, cinematography, language science, and historical studies from multiple academic viewpoints.
The third academic year involves international study, divided between two nations where the target languages are spoken. Regardless of initial proficiency level - whether beginning a new language or building on existing skills - all students attain equivalent linguistic mastery by graduation.
