Our 4.5-year MB ChB Medicine program prepares students to become principled, empathetic physicians dedicated to patient-centered care. The Medical School earned General Medical Council (GMC) accreditation in May 2019.
The curriculum progresses through two distinct phases.
Phase 1 features interdisciplinary modules organized around bodily systems within clinical contexts. Upon completing this phase, students gain essential communication skills, clinical examination abilities, and foundational knowledge of human health and disease to begin full-time clinical practice.
Phase 2 expands on these fundamentals through immersive clinical experiences. Students rotate through specialized modules, systematically exploring all medical specialties across hospital and community settings.
Clinical training occurs in hospitals and GP practices. True to Buckingham's educational philosophy, we maintain small student-to-teacher ratios, ensuring meaningful interactions with diverse patients and medical professionals.
