We're experiencing an era of profound change, where technological progress has emerged as a significant sociopolitical issue. Emerging challenges like climate change are accelerating technological revolutions in sectors such as energy and transportation. Meanwhile, breakthroughs in fields including artificial intelligence, blockchain, genetic modification, self-operating machines, enhanced reality, reusable spacecraft, and others could generate fresh societal challenges. These shifts are currently reshaping our traditional social structures, presenting both possibilities and risks. The interdisciplinary MSc in Digital and Technological Society equips students to navigate these prospects and perils. By integrating knowledge from various social sciences, it delivers analytical frameworks and cross-disciplinary approaches to examine technological evolution: how technology influences society and how society molds technology. The program encourages students to view technologies not merely as instruments or objects, but as complex networks deeply embedded in social, cultural, political, and economic contexts.
You will typically need an upper second-class honours degree or an international equivalent in any discipline.
