This program offers expert instruction in composing for visual media. Guided by faculty and visiting professionals from the industry, you'll establish a solid technical base while gaining specialized knowledge in television and film scoring.
The MA program takes place in our state-of-the-art composition and recording studios, supported by full-time technical staff. Students are empowered to create networking opportunities both on campus and externally for projects spanning film, animation, documentaries, gaming, and other media.
During the initial term, you'll explore studio recording techniques and fundamental film scoring skills through core units, plus one elective. The second term focuses on media music analysis and practical composition work for various formats including TV, documentaries, and production music - all contributing to potential final portfolio pieces.

An upper second-class honours degree or international equivalent in Music, plus experience as a composer, demonstrated by a portfolio of your music. For further information on the required portfolio and the expected format, please see the Department of Music website. Non-traditional qualifications/routes may also be considered.
