This program merges theater studies with Spanish, the world's second most spoken European language. Perfect for curious minds passionate about diverse cultures across nations and societies, particularly in Latin America, it delivers a stimulating journey filled with intellectual rigor and diverse elective options to match your personal interests.
Both academic departments foster dynamic connections between research and instruction, creating an energizing educational atmosphere where faculty integrate cutting-edge findings into their curriculum.
The theater component enables you to enhance both theoretical knowledge and hands-on abilities through critical analysis, historical contexts, and practical sessions. Opportunities include collaborations with industry professionals and access to our museum-certified Theatre Collection archive.
Your Spanish studies will include structured language training alongside explorations of Hispanic cultures worldwide, with elective units spanning literature, cinema, history, philosophy, politics, linguistics, and visual arts. Your third year involves international study in a Spanish-speaking nation to deepen linguistic and cultural fluency. For details on overseas study options, visit the Centre for Study Abroad.
Upon returning to Bristol for your final year, you may undertake independent research (practical or written) and/or complete an internship within the creative sector.
Instruction occurs through varied formats: lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and personalized project guidance. Evaluations encompass presentations, essays, critiques, exams, group projects, debates, podcasts, video analyses, and thesis work.
Our curriculum cultivates versatile competencies valued by employers in today's globalized job market and specific industry sectors.
Spanish is available for both beginners and advanced learners (A-level equivalent or higher). All language students utilize our advanced Multimedia Center and may participate in extracurricular offerings like guest lectures, cultural societies, language cafes, student publications, and performance events.
