Alumni enter diverse fields including the music industry, creative sectors, and various other professions such as law, finance (through conversion programs), public service, NGOs, education, and healthcare roles like music therapy. Many also opt for advanced academic studies.
Students can explore a wide selection of musicology, composition, and performance modules spanning multiple styles and genres. These are enhanced by weekly concerts, masterclasses, departmental workshops, and chances to engage with Bristol's vibrant music community. Our department boasts global academic recognition while maintaining a warm, inclusive atmosphere, with faculty members often leading ensembles and performing alongside students.
Instruction comes from internationally acclaimed music scholars and composers collaborating to provide top-tier, research-driven education, alongside professional instrumental and vocal coaches. All teaching and musical activities occur in the historic Victoria Rooms - a Bristol icon featuring a 530-seat concert hall, recital space, extensive studio facilities, and multiple practice rooms. Numerous organ and choral scholarship opportunities exist through partnerships with local churches and Bristol Cathedral.
