This program offers the perfect combination of music and drama with a strong practical focus. It aims to equip aspiring musicians and theater professionals with a balanced set of academic, creative, and hands-on skills, fostering both broad and specialized knowledge of musical and theatrical repertoires while nurturing independent critical thinking. In drama studies, you'll create original work, experiment with developing performances from the ground up, and hone skills in playwriting, directing, media training, and acting. The curriculum also encourages you to look beyond artistic creation, exploring how producers, marketing managers, and artistic directors operate within the industry, with opportunities to examine professional practices both locally and globally. At Bangor, you'll join a vibrant music and performance community, with opportunities to perform and attend events at renowned venues like Powis Hall, John Phillips Theatre, and the stunning Prichard-Jones Hall. The university's Pontio arts and innovation center provides exceptional facilities, including a Studio Theatre with professional technical support, a cinema, and the 450-seat Theatre Bryn Terfel, which hosts world-class theater productions, films, and musical events. Additionally, you'll benefit from Bangor's strong connections with regional and national theater/film companies, as well as visiting music and drama professionals who conduct workshops and masterclasses.
